In recognition of International Women’s Day, Tara Senior School held various activities to celebrate.
The Year 11 SRC held a ribbon and bake sale to raise money for the Parramatta Women’s Shelter. As a School, we continue to raise money to support women in our local community, raising over $10,000 last year for the Parramatta Women’s Shelter.
The Senior School also welcomed Dr Jenny Knight, CEO and Founder of REECH, Cambodia. Dr Knight spoke with Social Justice Prefect Aarushi about the incredible work that REECH is doing.
The organisation raises funds for and works predominantly with women in Cambodia to alleviate poverty and educate and empower them and their families for the future. It was inspiring to hear about all the work Dr Knight and REECH are accomplishing.
A group of Senior School girls also attended the ZONTA International Women’s Day breakfast, hearing about the theme “Cracking the Code: Innovation for a Gender Equal Future”.
It was an inspiring morning for the girls as they heard from Dr Jennifer Mathews, an award-winning and internationally renowned corals expert who is passionate about women and girls in STEM.
Year 12 student Hannah was also recognised as a Finalist for the Young Women in Public Affairs award. Congratulations Hannah!
Happy International Women's Day!
