Citation: My work is a personal exploration of identity and the constraints placed on one by ‘society’. The hands painted like marble symbolise traditional ideas, they reach out from nowhere and everywhere. The figures in front are depicted in living colour, charged with emotion and seeking a new way of being. The figures emerge from the darkness communicating the complex nature of the internal and external struggle for self-actualisation. My artistic influences are Michelangelo and Caravaggio.
