A Message from the Principal
Welcome to 2026
Welcome to 2026
Mrs Adele Ramsay
Principal
As the new school year begins, a very warm welcome to all our Tara families. I trust our new Tara girls have settled well and are already developing a strong sense of belonging within the Tara community. It is a privilege to lead Tara, and to partner with parents in supporting their daughters. Supporting them, not only in their academic pursuits, but in shaping the confident, capable and compassionate young women they are becoming.
This week, we held our HSC Distinguished Achievers Assembly, welcoming back graduates from the Class of 2025 to celebrate their exceptional HSC results. It was a joy to honour these young women and recognise achievements that reflect not only academic ability, but diligence, perseverance and a commitment to personal excellence. We again commend our graduates and thank our dedicated staff and supportive families who walked alongside them throughout their journey. Their success provides both a strong foundation and an inspiring example for our current students.
This year also marks the commencement of our new Strategic Plan, Strong Foundations – Future Ready 2026–2029 . This plan sets a clear and ambitious direction for Tara’s future, strengthening our academic programs, wellbeing framework, Christian foundations, technology and community partnerships.

Why Strong Foundations and Future Ready?
Strong Foundations
As Tara approaches 130 years since Miss Waugh began educating children in her home in Parramatta, we give thanks for the enduring vision that continues to shape our School. Tara is grounded in a rich Anglican heritage and a deep Christian faith that informs who we are and how we educate.
We are deeply committed to the education of girls and have a well established understanding of how girls learn and develop. Our focus on nurturing the whole girl - intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically, remains central to our mission. Strong academic frameworks, evidence-based teaching practices, and a commitment to high quality learning ensure that our girls are equipped to achieve their personal best and to develop lasting confidence in their abilities.
Future Ready
Education must not only honour what has served us well in the past but also look forward with clarity and purpose in a dynamic and changing world. We are therefore committed to innovation in curriculum design, subject offerings, and teaching practice.
We recognise that our young women must be prepared to achieve, to serve, and to thrive in the rapidly evolving landscape of the 21st century. As a Christian school, we do so with the assurance that God cares deeply about our future and calls our girls to step forward with faith, wisdom and courage.
Community Connection
Community connection remains central to who we are. I warmly invite you to join us at our upcoming Tara Twilight welcome event next Thursday evening. This gathering provides a wonderful opportunity to connect informally with other families and staff as we embrace the year ahead together. I do hope you will join us.
We are also excited about the upcoming Kings-Tara Musical, a highly anticipated collaboration that showcases the extraordinary talent of our students. Productions such as this foster confidence, creativity and teamwork, and I encourage our community to support the girls as they prepare for what promises to be a memorable performance.
Furthermore, as our students engage in sport this year, I encourage parents to take the opportunity at a sporting event, to meet our new Heads of Sport. We are pleased to welcome Mr Cameron Middlemass as Senior School Head of Sport and Mrs Leah Virtue as Junior School Head of Sport. They both bring enthusiasm, expertise and a strong commitment to developing character, resilience and excellence through sport.
Thank you for your continued partnership with us. I look forward to the year ahead and to all that God will do in and through our Tara community in 2026.

International Women's Day 2026
International Women's Day 2026
We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026. This special event will be held on Thursday, 5 March 2026, and all families and students are welcome to attend.
We are delighted to introduce two inspiring guest speakers who will share their experiences and insights as we gather to celebrate the achievements, voices and potential of women and girls in our community. We encourage you to bring your daughters along for what promises to be a meaningful and uplifting morning.
This year’s theme, Balance the Scales, calls us to reflect, engage in thoughtful conversation and take action towards greater equity and opportunity for all.
Guest Speakers:

Rachel Golding
Dr Rachel Golding is a recovering academic who, in 2014, let a love of good food and a belief about care turn into a business: Dinner on the Table. After years as a postdoctoral fellow, Rachel became convinced that cooking for someone is one of the simplest - and most powerful - ways to care for them, both physically and emotionally.
Dinner on the Table is a Sydney-based social enterprise catering company. It uses profits to gift quality, made-from-scratch meals to families living with disability - because a healthy dinner on the table can remove one daily pressure for women and families already carrying a lot.
Rachel is a mum of three, has more ideas than spare hours, and a steady conviction that we can do better by women living with disability - and by the people who love them.

Inika Narayan
Passionate about advocacy and justice law, Inika is a student at UNSW studying a Bachelor of Laws / Commerce. Inika is eager to use her voice to speak up for those who can’t, as well as the broader community.
Representing Zonta International as their Youth Observer at the CSW69. Inika was privileged enough to engage in powerful discussion, attend high-level panels, and hear from leaders about the critical measures’ nations are taking to improve gender disparity.
Moreover, as a director within the UNSW Law Society, her goal is to help make the law more accessible to all, while also using her platform to bridge cultural gaps, promote education and drive meaningful policy change.
We hope you can join us for this special celebration.

Junior School Leadership for 2026
Junior School Leadership for 2026
We are delighted to recognise our Junior School leaders for 2026 and celebrate the important role leadership plays across Year 6.
While we acknowledge our elected student leaders, we also recognise that every Year 6 student is a leader within the Junior School. As the oldest students, they set the tone through their example, demonstrating kindness, responsibility and encouragement in the classroom and playground each day.
We warmly congratulate our Year 6 Leadership Team: Lottie , our Elizabeth Medalist , recognised for her outstanding character and contribution to school life; Neve and Charlotte , our Christian Faith Leaders , who will support the spiritual life of the Junior School; and Nataliya , our Service Leader , who will help guide initiatives that foster compassion and care for others.
We look forward to seeing our Year 6 students embrace their leadership with confidence and purpose, and we thank them for the positive example they set for our community.

A Message from our Elizabeth Medalist
A Message from our Elizabeth Medalist
Lottie E
Elizabeth Medalist
I am so excited to have the role of Elizabeth Medalist. This year is going to be so much fun, and I cannot wait to make speeches, work with other kids in Year 6 and across the school, and overall making sure everyone is happy in the school.
Coming up this term for sports we will have the Swimming Carnival, and we will also have Cross Country both for girls in Years 3-6. All throughout the playground, I have heard people talking about what they are scared or excited about. It’s natural to feel worried, especially if you are new to Tara. I would like to encourage every girl to think of these carnivals as an OPPORTUNITY (one of Tara’s Values) to participate, be courageous and try something new, and grow their resilience even when it’s hard.
I cannot wait to see everyone there supporting their House.

Celebrating the Class of 2025 Distinguished Achievers
Celebrating the Class of 2025 Distinguished Achievers
Today, we were delighted to welcome back the Distinguished Achievers from the Class of 2025 to celebrate their outstanding HSC results and the dedication that underpinned their success. It was a wonderful opportunity for our current students to honour these young women, recognise their achievements and be inspired by the example they have set.
During the assembly, we heard from Anika and Angelina, who generously shared reflections on their learning journeys and the strategies that supported them along the way. They encouraged students to embrace every opportunity available, to remain open to growth, and to value the strength that comes from supporting one another. Their message was clear: success is not achieved alone, but through perseverance, collaboration and a willingness to step forward when opportunities arise.
The academic accomplishments of the Class of 2025 are exceptional. The cohort produced four All Round Achievers, alongside remarkable subject success including 1st and 8th place in New South Wales for the Hospitality Examination. Across the year group, 26% achieved an ATAR above 95, and more than half (51%) achieved an ATAR above 90. In addition, students earned an impressive 184 Band 6 and E4 results, reflecting both depth of understanding and consistent commitment to excellence.
We congratulate the Class of 2025 on these outstanding outcomes and thank them for returning to share their wisdom and encouragement. Their achievements not only reflect their own hard work, but also the partnership between students, staff and families that supports each Tara girl to strive for her personal best.

SISEAP Youth Public Speaking Competition
SISEAP Youth Public Speaking Competition

Olivia Y
Year 10 student
At the end of last year, I competed in the Soroptimist Public Speaking regional heats, where I presented a speech on the topic “Small Actions, Big Difference: How I can make the world a better place.” Following this, I was honoured to be invited to represent the Hills District at the Soroptimist International Public Speaking Competition. For this stage of the competition, I recorded and submitted my speech, which explained how small, everyday actions (such as reducing plastic use, recycling my dog’s old squeaky toys, and turning the bathroom lights off while my sister is mid-shower…) can contribute to meaningful change over time. My speech also emphasised the importance of breaking away from habitual behaviours, such as blindly following trends, and taking responsibility for the choices we make each day. This process has provided invaluable experience in refining an argument, connecting with an audience, and presenting with confidence. It was incredibly rewarding to have my ideas recognised at this level and to reflect on how much I had grown as a speaker.
Through Tara, I have also had the opportunity to participate in a range of other public speaking competitions, including Rostrum Voice of Youth, the Festival of Speech, and Lions Youth of the Year. Each of these experiences has helped me develop different facets of public speaking. For example, the prepared speeches have improved my ability to structure arguments while impromptu sections have enhanced my capacity to think of my feet and respond under pressure. Having access to these opportunities at Tara has allowed me to build confidence and become increasingly comfortable presenting in formal settings.
All in all, public speaking has helped me develop many valuable life skills. It has improved my ability to communicate ideas coherently, organize my thoughts logically, and present arguments in a confident manner (even when I start the sentence unsure of where it’s going). These skills have also translated into other areas, particularly debating. Public speaking has also made it easier for me to contribute to class discussions and present academic work with greater assurance. Occasionally I make a point so convincingly I surprise myself!
For anyone interested in public speaking, I would strongly encourage giving it a try! It is an extremely effective way to build confidence and develop communication skills, and these benefits extend far beyond competition. Importantly, it is never too late to start. Public speaking is a skill that improves with practice, and each time you try helps build confidence and ability over time. Even small opportunities can make a meaningful difference, and taking the first step can be the most important part. Overall, it has been a very valuable experience, and I look forward to continuing to develop these skills in the future.

Mr Middlemass, Head of Sport - Senior School
I’m thrilled to be joining the Tara community as the Senior School Head of Sport. I come from a background as a PDHPE teacher and Head of Girls’ Sport, and I’ve been lucky enough to coach across Rugby, Rugby League, and Basketball—three sports I also played whilst at school! I am also currently the assistant coach of the NSWCIS u18 Rugby League side.
I’m passionate about all things sport and wellbeing, especially cricket and distance running, which are personal favourites of mine. Fun fact - I'm currently training for a 100km ultramarathon!
I’m really looking forward to getting to know the Tara community and have already had the pleasure of meeting so many of you. My goal is to celebrate the strengths of our students and working together with the community to create an exciting and inspiring future for sport at Tara.

Mrs Virtue, Head of Sport - Junior School
Being back at Tara is very much a full-circle moment for me. As a proud Tara old girl, I am delighted to be back serving this school community as the new Head of Sport- Junior School.
My background is in primary education, and I have previously worked as a Classroom Teacher, PDHPE Specialist Teacher, House Coordinator, Master In Charge of Rugby and K-2 Sports Coordinator.
My favourite sports are water polo, skiing and rugby union. I have been blessed over the years to play, coach and referee sport at a state and national level. In my spare time, I love to go swimming with my one-year-old son, take my bordoodle puppy for walks and watch musicals. As a former ski instructor, I have also been enjoying the Winter Olympics and supporting our Australian athletes at Milano Cortina.
I very much look forward to meeting everyone and cheering on our girls from the sidelines at Saturday Sport!
