We would like to congratulate Zali, HSC Class of 2024, for receiving a nomination for consideration in ARTEXPRESS.
Zali has received a nomination for her Visual Arts HSC Body of Work, ‘My Mind Travels’, in the form of drawing.
Her piece is a single, large digital drawing that captivates viewers with its intricate detail and vibrant colours.
“My body of work consists of one large digital drawing. I have been inspired by the Dutch draftsman M.C.Escher. I wished to visually illustrate the abstract thoughts within my mind. It is not tangential thinking, but I often feel cognitive overload if too much information is disseminated at one time. If instructions are not broken down into procedural steps my mind travels on a journey like the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz. I have represented this visually through the meandering pathways that lead the eye around the artwork, on a journey that is both convoluted and never ending. I have applied a 1970’s inspired psychedelic colour palette to reference the subconscious mind.”
ARTEXPRESS is a prestigious annual exhibition that celebrates the exemplary work of Visual Arts students from across New South Wales, and a nomination for inclusion is a significant recognition of creative talent and hard work.
Congratulations Zali on this outstanding achievement.
