The annual IGSSA regatta was held on Sunday 23 February at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC). It was a good morning of racing and we saw some good results across the team and we came away with several medals.
It was great to have Ms Musto, Mrs Middlebrook and Mrs Sinden come out to SIRC to watch the girls race and support the team – we love having you with us and appreciate your support and enthusiasm. Some of the girls also had the opportunity to put on our school uniforms and assist with presenting medals which is always fun, especially when you get to hand them to your own team mates.
Our Year 8 rowers started the day with some hard racing against some tough competitors. Our quad of Charlotte O, Eliza M, Krishnaa P, Caitlin I and coxed by Georgia H placed 3rd in their heat and 7th in the final. The quad of Jaskirit K, Suhanya J, Jemma S, Mackenzie N, and coxed by Ellen G placed 6th in their final. Well done girls.
Olivia D from Year 9 had some tough competition on the lake and did a great job to place 2nd in her single scull. Emma M in Year 10 had a great race and crossed the finish line 1st in her single scull, while the Year 10 double of Elaine S and Emily F placed 3rd in their race.
The next to take to the lake was Sarah F who placed 2nd in the Schoolgirl Single Scull event. The senior Quad of Georgia H, Mackenzie C, Piper H, Macayla H and coxed by Charuni A placed 3rd in their race and earned the final medal of the day.
Overall, there were many good results across the rowing team for the IGSSA regatta but more importantly it was great to see the team spirit with all the girls cheering each other on from the sideline of the lake. This is what makes me so proud and is the true purpose of a team.
