We were honoured to have two special guests visit Tara this week, City of Parramatta Lord Mayor, Cr Bob Dwyer and Vice President of the Parramatta & District Historical Society, Mr Ken Smith. They presented Prisca Lam the annual John McClymont History Award.
Prisca, Head Girl for 2019/2020 completed the HSC in 2020 and came 3rd in the State in Modern History.
The award is presented to the highest scoring history student in the Parramatta LGA from the previous year’s HSC. This award is in honour of the late John McClymont OAM, a local historian and former president of the Parramatta and District Historical society.
John McClymont wrote and lectured widely on Parramatta. He proudly spoke of the ‘Parramatta Story’ as the “beginning of a nation, with all its struggles and triumphs, its conflicts and compromises.” Mr McClymont was also a co-author of Parramatta – A Past Revealed, a publication commissioned by the then Parramatta City Council. It is a very detailed text in the life of Parramatta.
This book was presented to Prisca together with a gift voucher from the City of Parramatta for her to purchase books towards further studies.
Congratulations Prisca, the Tara School community is very proud of you and wishes you continued success.
