As we approach the Trial HSC Exams, our amazing Head of Food Technology and Hospitality, Mrs Judy Cropper, has provided valuable advice to HSC Hospitality students in the Sydney Morning Herald.
We wanted to share more about Mrs Cropper and her 38 year career at Tara.
Mrs Cropper’s journey as an educator has been impactful, with numerous successes, including many top-of-the-state and top 10 results in the HSC. Her passion for teaching and dedication to her students have made her an invaluable asset to the Tara community.
Mrs Cropper’s inspiration to become a teacher stems from her own experiences while at boarding school. A wonderful home science teacher had a profound impact on her life, setting the course for her future path in education.
One of Mrs Cropper’s favourite aspects of teaching is the strong bond she shares with her students. The relationships she fosters play a pivotal role in their success at School. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, as she maintains connections with many of her former students, witnessing their growth and accomplishments throughout the years beyond the Tara gates!
The Food Technology and Hospitality department at Tara is renowned for achieving outstanding HSC results. There have been over 20 Top 10 results in the HSC for Food Technology and Hospitality since Mrs Cropper has been at Tara. In recent years, Tara has achieved 1st place twice and 2nd place twice in the HSC Hospitality exam!
Mrs Cropper attributes this success to the collaborative spirit among the Food Technology and Hospitality faculty and the unwavering support they provide to their students. Many young women have pursued careers in the Food Technology and Hospitality industry, crediting the staff’s guidance, and the skills they acquired during their time at Tara.
Mrs Cropper feels immense gratitude to be part of the Tara community, cherishing the beautiful location, the wonderful staff, and amazing students. Each day, she looks forward to coming to work, inspired by the eager minds of Tara girls.
