My name is Mary-Claire and I am honoured to serve as Tara's Head Girl for 2020-2021.
In my 13 years of being a Tara Girl, not one year could compare to 2020. Our way of learning and our school experience changed in a historical way. We had to deal with remote learning, the uncertainty of when we would return to school, the stress of not seeing our teachers and most importantly the difficulty in accepting that we could not interact with our peers.
It was also a time where we were reminded what was most important – family, love, hope and faith. A reminder to be grateful for what we often may take for granted. I take this opportunity to thank Tara staff for their time, dedication and effort ensuring each student continued to achieve their best.
Tara is a school that I love. It is a school that has shaped me into the person that I am today and prepared me for whatever my future holds. The core Tara values of Service for Others, Affirmation, Opportunity, and Integrity are instrumental in fostering well rounded, strong and confident young women, who are prepared to serve and excel in the dynamic world which we live.
Throughout my term as Head Girl I hope to continue to embody the importance of Tara values within the school. I am thankful to serve such a nurturing and affirming community, I am thankful to graduate school being a Tara woman, who with my peers can collectively make a difference in our world.
