Musicals are a great way for students to get involved in the performing arts and experience the many benefits that come from putting on a show. From building important music and performance skills to creating lasting relationships with fellow students, musical theatre productions can be an invaluable part of any student’s educational experience.
Recently, The King's School and Tara Anglican School for Girls collaborated to produce Shrek The Musical. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop and practice their musical theatre skills and explore their creative side and was a great example of how a musical can help students to thrive.
Taking part in musical theatre productions helps students to develop skills that are essential for success in life. By performing musical theatre, students learn to communicate clearly and effectively in front of an audience, which helps them to develop confidence and poise. It also helps them to become more aware of their body language and to express themselves through facial expressions and gestures.
Working together the student cast and crew learn to appreciate the different skills and strengths of each team member, and to understand how important it is to work together to reach a common goal. This interaction helps to build strong relationships.
Shrek The Musical also provided an opportunity for students to hone their music and performance skills. The rehearsal process helped the students build confidence in their abilities and allowed them to practice important time management and organisation skills.
This year’s production of Shrek The Musical was an amazing and rewarding experience for all involved. By taking part in something outside of the classroom, the students were able to take a break from their studies and enjoy a creative outlet. This can help to reduce stress and give them an opportunity to express themselves in a unique way.
It has been a great way for Tara girls to learn and grow. From building relationships to developing important skills, they have benefited greatly from taking part in this professional production. We thank all the staff of The King’s School, Tara Anglican School for Girls, parent volunteers, sound and backstage crew and makeup and costume teams who were instrumental in creating this fantasy masterpiece!
We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
