Tara Anglican School for Girls is proud to celebrate the achievement of Year 12 student and Sport Prefect, Chelsea, who has been selected to represent Australia in the Volleyroos Women’s Volleyball team. She is currently competing in Vietnam at the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup.
Chelsea’s pathway into elite sport hasn’t followed the usual script. For many years she was a dedicated gymnast, training regularly until a growth spurt prompted a natural shift away from the sport. However, her years in gymnastics built a strong foundation in physical strength, flexibility and discipline—skills that would carry over when she took a chance on something new.
It was her dad, a former volleyballer himself, who first encouraged her to try volleyball. He invited her to a trial game just three years ago and she hasn’t looked back since. What started as a casual invitation quickly turned into a deep love for the game and a clear direction for the future.
Today, Chelsea plays and trains nearly every day of the week—splitting her time between indoor and beach volleyball. She plays indoor for the Sydney Acers in the Premier Women’s Division and has recently embraced beach volleyball more seriously, competing throughout the past summer. She enjoys both forms of the game and continues to develop her skills across both formats.
All of this comes while she completes her final year of school and leads the Tara community as Sport Prefect. Her ability to balance elite competition with her HSC studies speaks volumes about her time management and focus. She continues to lead by example, offering quiet encouragement and steady guidance to the younger girls who admire her.
Chelsea has her sights set on the 2032 Olympics—an ambitious goal, but one that seems entirely within reach given the determination and work ethic she brings to every part of her life.
We congratulate Chelsea on this outstanding achievement and wish her the very best as she competes on the international stage.
